Obama actually recognized that Lincoln wasn’t the great emancipator
“I cannot swallow whole the view of Lincoln as the Great Emancipator,” Obama said. “As a law professor and civil rights lawyer and as an African-American, I am fully aware of his limited views on race. Anyone who actually reads the Emancipation Proclamation knows it was more a military document than a clarion call for justice.”
wow. I never expected to hear that from a democrat…
And in other news, H.K. Edgerton is on the march again
Good luck to him
It seems to me that this supreme court ruling is worse than the British quartering soldiers in folks houses against their will (see the Third Amendment).
and so few have mourned the death of the republic and the rule of law…
Ogre is on Vacation
And far be it from me to pass up the chance to make a little mischief. So, I stole the Ogre from his blog and sent him to a ball game.
Then Flight Pundit caught him at the concession stand…
And Igina caught him exploring his Scottish heritage
Where will Ogre go next on his vacation?
I have just updated my comment policy. From now on, any comment with the word “Poker” in it will automatically be deleted by the system. By doing this, I’m anticipating I’ll cut out about 95% of the spam I’m getting.
Updated 6-19-2005 to add “casino” to the list
Ogre has gone on vacation.
So, what does that mean?
I have kidnapped his Ogre!
And made a significant improvement to the hat he was wearing…
I saw this done awhile back to a gnome, so the idea isn’t original, but it seems like fun.
Everybody steal the Ogre!
Sorry for the lack of posting. Life has been busy. Hmmm, you know, that’s mighty egocentrical of me…
El Cid is at it again. He has written what he hopes will be a Foundation for the Freedom Movement.
Although I must disagree with one point:
We will succeed because we have right on our side. We are on the side of law; we are aligned with God and his principles. We will use the legitimate sovereignty of my homeland in South Carolina to bring the federal government to heel and force it to recognize the Constitutional limits to its power, at least as applied to us.
Considering prophecy regarding the future, and the Biblical events of the past 60-70 years, I’m not so sure that we will win. That is, of course, absolutely no reason not to fight. Just because the end is near is no reason to abandon the fight for what is right.
Always have to nitpick. Although I don’t see anything that I have a serious disagreement with there.
The government as it exists in this country has been corrupted by the power it wields, and it corrupts and destroys everything that it touches. Its power will not be relinquished easily, and I fear not without force of arms.
I got the First Three Seasons of the Dukes of Hazzard on DVD today…
Just the good ol’ boys
wouldn’t change if they could
beats all you never say
been in trouble with the law
since the day they was born…
Despite El Cid being very well read and quite intelligent, I have to disagree with his latest post
If we really invaded Iraq to head off China and Europe becoming superpowers, that would be bar none the single most idiotic plan that I have ever heard of.
I sincerely hope that the leaders of this country are not so stupid as to believe that they can nip a Superpower China in the bud by invading Iraq. The smartest move we could make if we wanted to do that was quit free trading with them. We get absolutely no benefit from it. The purchasing power of the Dollar slides every day because of job losses to cheaper (read slave labor with no burdensome regulation) manufacturing in China.
You know what, they just really might be that stupid. I think I need to go buy bullets.
