Very Generous with Other Peoples Money

Lately, I have been seeing lots of web ads for “One: The Campaign to make poverty history“.

It seems that they would like to dedicate one percent of the US Federal Budget to fighting poverty and AIDS in Africa. There’s just one eensy, teensy little problem with that:

THE PURPOSE OF THE US GOVERNMENT IS TO GOVERN THE PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA. NOT TO DO FUNDRAISING FOR AIDS RESEARCH OR HELPING THE POOR OF OTHER COUNTRIES!

If you want to give money to help AIDS victims in Africa, be my guest. Just don’t use the IRS to do your dirty work for you.

And while we’re talking about African victims of disease, how about Malaria. Aren’t the lives of all the human being taken by Malaria every day worth more than any harm that would come to birds from using DDT to prevent the spread of Malaria (like we already did in the United States)? (HINT: The life of any bird, or any species of bird, pales in comparison to human life. If you don’t understand this, you need to seriously reevaluate your moral philosophy).
